Sputnik Chandelier

As some of you know, I am in the process of redoing my breakfast nook.  (Still don't have a table...one day though, right?!)  We have a light fixture that is attached to the ceiling, but once we have a table I want to change it out to a chandelier that will hang closer to the table.  I was planning on purchasing one of these:

The other day I spotted this DIY on one of my absolute favorite blogs, Little Green Notebook.  Amazing!  I am completely on board with this -- but I am considering leaving it white. Do you think it would be as awesome in white?  Also, does anyone have one of these?  Do you know if it gives off enough light to be the only source?  I love it.  Now, if I could just find a table....  :o)

Thank you!

I just wanted to give a sincere "thank you!" to all of our wonderful teachers.  Teacher Appreciation week was last week here in our neck of the desert and it's always so hard for me to truly show my appreciation to these wonderful teachers who have become a part of my children's lives.

This year, both of my children were blessed with great teachers that really took the time to get to know both of them.  One teacher, in particular, has really made a difference in my life and my little boy's life.  Kindergarten is such an important year and she really understands this.  As I was discussing schooling with her she made this comment that has really made an impact on me..."In the beginning years of school, children aren't really going to remember the exact lessons they learned in school, but they're always going to remember the feeling they had."  I cannot express the love I have for this special lady!

A few weeks had passed since this conversation and she sent me an e-mail that really touched me.  My children are EXTREMELY shy in school.  At home, it's a different story, but here is the sweet e-mail I received from her:

"Lynsee,
I was thinking of sweet Hayden when I read this.

Listen to the "beautiful music."

It's spring in Sugar Land, Texas, and when I go outside, I hear the sounds of birds chirping and singing. I love that beautiful sound. It's a sound filled with the hope of spring time. In order to hear the birds, I have to stop what I'm doing and listen for them. It made me think about children. There are some children that you can easily hear and see. They demand your attention. There are others who are quieter, and you have to "tune in" to get to know these children. They too may have beautiful music inside of them. Today, as you go through your day, pay special attention to those other children, and see if you can hear the beautiful music of their own unique personalities.
Have a wonderful day. You are a difference maker."

Isn't she such a sweet lady.  I truly love Mrs. Austin and will definitely miss her next year!  Teachers really do make a difference and are such an important part of all of our lives.  Please, leave a comment and show your appreciation for our great teachers!

Anxious

As a family we have been looking forward to our Disneyland trip.  I must say, it was so much fun!  I loved every minute of it.  We actually stayed for the fireworks this year, a first for us, and they were amazing!  Definitely worth the wait and the crowd.   Anywho, it was very enjoyable and I miss it.  I'm the type of person who gets very sad when I arrive home and realize life must go on as it normally does.  Life is not a vacation.  Kids have to return to school, dishes need to be done, laundry is not going to do itself and the neighbor does not want to watch your out-of-control dog for the rest of her life.  I wish!

So, to bring back the excitement, I'm focusing on what's to come.  First things first, my brother is graduating from Medical school next week and I get to go with my parents and sister.  Yay!  I'm very excited for this fun trip because I have never been to Missouri and we are also making a trip to Arkansas to see an uncle I have only met once in my life.  These places may not sound exciting, but I am pumped!  I might also be making a trip to Tennessee and that makes me happy!

The next event...School is out on May 19th!  This is probably the best part for me.  No more waking at 4:50am to make it to the gym before school starts.  I can probably push it back to 6.  Also, my yearly trip back home to Idaho always makes me happy!

One more thing that I'm very excited for is a movie that comes out in July.  My favorite thing to do, ever, is go to the movies and get a popcorn with nacho cheese cheddar seasoning and a Coke Zero.  Heaven, I tell you!  It doesn't even matter the movie, but in this case, the movie is very appealing to me.  Why?  Two words:  Ryan Gosling.  Enough said.  To make it even better, his costar is Steve Carrell.  The movie is Crazy, Stupid, Love and it can't come out soon enough!  If you can't tell, Ryan Gosling is my favorite.  Put together, popcorn, Coke Zero and Ryan Gosling and I'm happy.

Enough about me.  What are you looking forward to this summer?  Any exciting plans?  Please, do share!
